We all deserve to exist in safe spaces.
We all deserve slow, sweet moments.
It’s time to double down on self care, community building, and creating joy.

I had planned on this past summer being “my best hot girl summer” I finally got a new job – NO MORE START UPS- and I was starting to feel like I was coming into a new version of myself. The one I’ve been fighting for my whole life. I had just booked an “empowerment photography session” in an effort to help me step into this new version of myself. But life was like LOL NOT TODAY, BITCH!
I started having some significant health struggles, some new diagnoses to graple with, and a septic emergency that turned into a $10k, 4 month-long nightmare.
IT WAS TOO MUCH. I was already struggling with burnout and learning about the new and unique type of burnout that I was experiencing- Admittedly there was a little bit of relief with the new diagnoses because ya girl thought she was having a menty B – but still too much going on at the same time for lil’ ole me.
In the midst of one of the darkest depressions on record, my empowerment photo season arrived. The day before the session, I couldn’t even get out of bed. I thought about canceling, but then couldn’t even get the energy or the courage to cancel and ended up forcing myself to go do the session, which in hindsight was probably the best thing I could have done.
I had a fantastic time at the photo shoot,it really helped pull me out of my funk. The pictures did turn out beautiful, but I can see the hurt in the deep sadness in my eyes, so the outcome was bettersweet. As is life.
Which makes me think of the time that we’re in right now, full of fear and the unknown, but with soft glimmers of hope that there has to be something better on the other side of this.
It’s time to remember who we are
Love hard❤️
