So often, I find myself questioning my seat at the table. I look around in my professional life and I see people who are very different than myself and sometimes I let that get the best of me. I often forget that there’s a reason that I am successful and that reason is ME. Oh and BTW #sucsess is defined by YOU, no one else. The term that is used in the video below “fake it till you are it” is something that really resonates with me because I have to remind myself that I do have a right to be here and that I am enough. I have horrible self esteem and other competing conditions so I have to give myself pep talks on the daily. But that’s ok, I’m making progresses and I hold more value for myself now more than ever. When I feel like I’m in over my head or I’m in too deep I will watch this video to remind myself that I’m here because of everything that has happened in my life and I am here because I worked hard. Regardless of socioeconomic status regardless of the fact that I can confirm that pretty girls do love trap music, I am still more than enough to fulfill my highly sought after corporate position. Having a work-life balance is hard. I catch myself feeling like I need to be a different person at work than I am at home which, to an extent, we all do but at the same time being individual unique humans is our greatest value. We Are Who We Are so we should act accordingly. We shouldn’t hide behind our insecurities (which I am guilty of) We shouldn’t change who we are because we hold a certain type of position or work at a certain type of company. We can’t deprive ourselves of who we really are. I work on this daily. Self confidence is the new black. If you get a chance I highly recommend watching the video below and taking the message to Heart! If you feel so inclined tell me what you think!
